Canadian privacy bill stalled for second time in six months

Article Abstract:

The passage of Canada's personal privacy legislation suffered its second postponement in six months, following a call for stronger protection from lobbyists of the healthcare sector. The legislation, known as Bill C-6, was criticized for not providing stronger health information privacy protection, an issue which is deemed by most Canadians as very important. Passage of the bill would prohibit the collection of personal information, without permission, that could be used to identify an individual.
