Changes to dredge permits shouldn't affect marinas

Article Abstract:

Changes in the Army Corps of Engineers nationwide permit programs should not be a source of concern for marina operators, according to Jim Frye, director of the NMMA's Marinas and Boating Access Dept. Frye said the new permit process is geared towards homebuilders and developers. John Studt, chief of the Corps of Engineers' regulatory branch, said the changes will benefit the nation's aquatic environment by increasing protection to critical resource waters and within the 100-year flood plain.

However, the political contributions of the industry have been far too little to raise any response from the political quarters. In this scenario, he intends to improve the fund collecting procedures within the industry.
