Chinese whispers

Article Abstract:

Legal departments are required to use the concept of Chinese walls when taking on clients who may benefit from knowledge gained when a lawyer has worked for a previous client. The Chinese wall concept is designed to ensure lawyers working for opposing firms remain impartial and do not unwittingly pass on vital information from one party to another. Solicitors are duty bound to prove client confidentiality when taking on new clients.

Who are the arbitrators?: Unlike court cases, arbitrations are held in private, so it can be hard to find out what particular arbitrators are like

Article Abstract:

Arbitrations are held in private, unlike courts, and a group of arbitrators have recently formed an arbitration chambers, headed by Ray Turner, an arbitration Professor. The group all has experience in arbitration, particularly in construction. Two of the group spoke about the new Arbitration Act 1996, saying that it was a step forward, bringing new powers to the arbitrator to be proactive.
