Chris-Craft is back; dealers get first look at new boats; company outlines its plans to return to full production, will exhibit at Fort Lauderdale

Article Abstract:

Chris-Craft Boats was sold by Genmar Holdings to Stephen Julius in early-2001. The British entrepreneur is chairman and Stephen Heese, president. The 128-year old firm never completely stopped making boats. Now the new owners are ready to show the new line along with some high-tech boats with retro characteristics, calling Chris-Craft 'an American icon.' The slow economy has given the firm time to evaluate how it should move forward.

Half the boat, twice the marketing mileage

Whaler has unveiled its new concept of marketing with a land-based marketing tour. The enduring image of a boat sliced in half, will be extensively used in the marketing campaign that will start from Florida up the East Coast and culminate at Whaler's birthplace in Massachusetts.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is being held soon after the International BoatbuildersE Exhibition & Conference. The proximity in dates of both events could lead to lower turnout at the Fort Lauderdale show.
