Dealers say used-boat sales are holding up; quality, late-model craft are selling well in virtually every region, with a shortage of inventory the only hitch

Article Abstract:

The slow economy in 2001, even before the events of September 11th, is credited with helping used-boat sales over new-boat. Sales of used boats would be even better, in all regions, if dealers could get more inventory. Most used boats are sold privately. Finance companies agree and say that the used market looks likely to get even stronger.

Interest rate hikes could lure buyers off the fence: marine lenders say dealers now have the 'sense of urgency' they can use to close sales

Article Abstract:

Interest rates on consumer boat loans are increasing but experts feel that there is no reason to panic. The slight hike in the interest rates will help the boating industry and the consumers in the long run and will also act as a stimulant for making important decisions regarding the purchase of boats.

Miami turnout is flat, but sales are healthy

Article Abstract:

Miami International Boat Show had a little impact and in some cases remarkable impact on sales. The show ran at three places throughout the country in Miami Beach Convention Centre, Marriott Sealine Marina and Yachting Center and BaysideE s Miamarina where several awards were given.
