Bass Leisure Retail Director of Construction Ken Millbanks is very keen to use information and communications technology if it helps him achieve his objective of having the firm's public houses built quicker and for less money. Millbanks point out the use of virtual reality images of a planned building is very helpful to share with contractors. Airey, headhunted from pharmaceutical giant smithKline Beecham, says he took the job in the smaller company because he wants to make a difference and get himself noticed. His task is to overhaul Laing's complete procurement policy, which, says Airey, will require a minor cultural revolution at the contractor.
