Construction crash courses planned

Article Abstract:

The UK Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) hopes that it will be able to play a role in overcoming shortages of skilled labour in the construction industry by running 10-week intensive courses in the key construction professions. The organization is aware of the need to consider how these courses could be run alongside existing training and the extent to which they would be compatible with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. The CITB is developing this approach as part of its commitment to addressing the construction industry's concerns.

Buyers picket Prowting over defects

Article Abstract:

Prowting Homes is facing protests from residents on its Acorns Estate in Ashford, England, and its Sovereign Harbour estate in Eastbourne, England, about the quality of workmanship on its new homes. The company has promised that the defects will be rectified, but residents feel that it is taking far too long for this work to begin. Andrew Wainwright, the company's south-east region managing director, admits that there have been some difficulties, but feels that some of the residents' claims for compensation are not reasonable.
