Cool roofs could be a hot issue
Article Abstract:
The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), a new organization formed to address the issue of urban heat islands, seeks to formulate a performance rating and labeling system for roof surfaces. The CRRC also intends to develop tools to help contractors evaluate other properties of cool roofs that will affect their ability to offer sustained radiative benefits. The organization is reportedly leaning towards the development of a procedure for rating roofs and not actually administer a ratings program.

Suppliers announce strategic alliance

Carlisle SynTec and Johns Manville have entered into a strategic alliance aimed at enhancing both companies positions in the Canadian market. The deal calls for Carlisle to provide technical support from its Toronto office while Johs Manville will proide sales and customers service support for the promotion of commercial/industrial roofing membranes manufactured by Carlisle. The alliance is expected to provide synergies for each of the companies.
