Cross-selling helps Big Flower grow

Big Flower Holdings of New York has successfully transformed itself from a traditional printer into a more marketing services company by investing in prepress businesses and direct marketing operations. The company has steadily added database management, customization expertise and response management to its direct mail printing and production base. Big Flower has incorporated its many acquisitions into marketing and advertising services subsidiaries having $1.6 billion in annual revenues and sizable cross-seling potentials. One of its recent works is the marketing campaign for North Wilkesboro, NC-based Lowe's Companies, which aimed to promote the openings of the firm's home-improvement superstores.

The rapid growth of e-mail marketing has made it an integral component of any direct marketing campaign. Corollary to this emerging permission based trend is the growing importance of list brokers who have managed to adapt to the changing times, especially in the electronic marketing field. The emerging role of list brokers in the direct marketing industry include defining the market, providing feedback, media planning development, price negotiating, order trafficking and market testing and analysis.

Be free debuts software, expands efforts to reach affiliates

Be Free Inc. of Marlborough, MA, is set to introduce a software package that will allow Web-page operators to participate in online affiliate programs of more than one retailer at a time. BFAST 3.0 allows affiliates to join multiple merchant programs from a link on the company's Web site, www.befree.com. The rationale behind affiliate programs is to place advertisements on individuals' and companies' Web pages that are most related to a particular retailer's product or service.
