Does this really look like an attractive career move?

Article Abstract:

A study of conditions for UK building workers found five out of six building sites in London, England, were substandard. Senior managers of construction firms recognized the importance of good facilities for their workers but many fail to fulfill them in practice. Only one site, operated by Laing Management, were considered to be in a reasonable condition. The other five sites had dirty toilets and handwashing facilities and cramped and unhygienic canteens. It has been suggested the poor working conditions may be one reason there is a shortage of workers in the building trade.

Avoiding flaws in floors

Article Abstract:

The UK Construction Industry Research and Information Association has published a guide to help contractors and specifiers select the most suitable flooring. Floor coverings can often become cracked or damaged due to incorrect choice of covering, inadequate finishing or damp which leads to cracks. Retailer Tesco Stores use only terrazzo tiles in its supermarkets, which reduces the amount of cracking caused by heavily laden shopping trolleys. The terrazzo tiles are backed by a 20 mm concrete layer which is placed directly on to the floor base.
