Dome risks re-examined

Article Abstract:

The risk analysis already undertaken for the Millennium Dome project in Greenwich, London, England, will be reassessed by the consultant that wins the contract currently being tendered by New Millennium Experience. Some observers believe that the reassessment will prompt a rise in speculation that the project will make very large losses. There are already fears that the estimated ticket price of 17.50 pounds sterling will deter visitors and that the Jubilee Line Tube link will not be open on time.

MPs' new offices now 100m pounds sterling over budget

Article Abstract:

The out-turn cost of the planned New Parliamentary Building in Westminster, London, England, has risen to an estimated 250 million pounds sterling because of delays in allowing Laing to start on site. The latest revision of costs has come as a result of problems with the construction of Westminster Jubilee Line Station, which will be located beneath the building. The fit-out phase has now been rescheduled for 2000, when prices will have risen considerably.

Red tape strangles lottery landmarks

Article Abstract:

Companies responsible for managing the UK's leading construction projects for the millennium report that the progress of these projects is being hampered by high levels of bureaucracy. Some report that the Millennium Commission's compliance regulations are too strict, and there are fears that compliance difficulties could worsen as a result of changes to lottery funding introduced by the new Labour government.
