FCC to appeal ruling on use of telco customer data

Article Abstract:

A US federal appeals court ruled that telephone companies can share consumer data with affiliated businesses without asking for consumer consent. The court's decision overturns a rule by the Federal Communications Commission, which has vowed to take the issue to the Supreme Court. Telephone companies hailed the decision as a victory for consumers, while regulators said the ruling could have potentially harmful implications for consumer privacy.
