FTC issues warning for COPPA noncompliance

Article Abstract:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has warned children's WEb site operators through an e-mail initiative requiring them to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The FTC's action stems from its staffers' Web surfing to check on children's sites for COPPA compliance. It was found that approximately half of the sites visited were in violation of COPPA. Specific site names were not released although e- mails were being sent to several sites.
