Fingerhut to debut e-mail database marketing program

Article Abstract:

Fingerhut will start a series of e-mail database marketing programs that will allow the company to sent targeted messages to its 30-million-count customer database. Fingerhut will initially send targeted e-mail to customers who have purchased goods on its Web sites. It will use the Unica Impact software to manage the marketing campaigns and create single customer views across multiple communication channels.

Fingerhut's updated data warehouse helps boosts its profits

Article Abstract:

Fingerhut Cos Inc, a Minnetonka, MN-based cataloger, has developed an in-house database management system that allows it to constantly update its 7-million-count customer data warehouse system. The Mail Stream Optimization system cross checks the needs of the customers to determine which of its more than 100 catalogs should be sent to a particular customer. The system uses IBM SP2 hardware and Orchestrate software from Torrent Systems Inc, which uses parallel processing to run the system in less than 12 hours.
