Frederick's of Hollywood Inc, based in Los Angeles, CA, has launched its first full-page advertisement in a national magazine, Cosmopolitan, to generate prospecting leads. Appearing in the fashion magazine's Jun 2001 issue, the advertisement offers 20% discount on purchases at the cataloger's e-commerce site, retail stores and catalog. The campaign is part of an overall business plan developed by Frederick's last year to build its house file through agressive prospecting strategies.

UPS to launch e-commerce inventory service

UPS e-Logistics will introduce its Promise Engine in spring 2001. The service is a solution that is expected to make it easier for e-commerce businesses to check inventory and fulfill orders quickly. The Promise Engine is aimed at searching distribution centers to ensure merchandise availability. It can also check whether an item will be available days before a customer wants it. The start-up cost for the service is approximately $50,000.

QuikPak makes delivery first priority

QuikPak Inc of Lafayette, IN, has launched an express mailing service called First Priority. The service is for catalogers who want to avail the fastest in-hand delivery at a low cost, even during the peak holiday shopping season. First Priority can be availed by catalogers who mail 100 pieces of catalogs a day, which weigh two to eight ounces each. QuikPak launched this express mailing service to compete with Priority Mail.
