GM plans marketing blitz for new card

Article Abstract:

Detroit, MI-based automaker General Motors Corp is poised to promote the relaunch of its GM Card that will include the company's first direct response television campaign for the credit card. The new GM card will allow consumers to accumulate money for several non-automotive products and services, such as hotel rooms, movie tickets and products available through the SkyMall catalog. The marketing campaign includes broadcast and cable television, print, direct mail, telemarketing and Internet advertising.

Star Systems, NYCE launch online debit card systems

Article Abstract:

NYCE Corp and Star Systems have launched a new type of debit card in Mar 2000. The card called SafeDebit allows consumers to purchase products on the Internet. It has the same size and shape of a credit card but is put inside the CD-ROM drive of a personal computer to allow online purchases. The cards will be marketed through direct mailing, through enclosures in bank statements, online promotions and in-store promotions at bank branches.

PC connection launches business PC line

PC Connection Inc., a Merrimack, NH-based direct seller of computers and peripherals, is introducing its own line of desktop computers for small businesses. The computers will be produced by a contract manufacturer and will be sold under the Epiq PC Systems brand. The lower-priced computers will be offered online (www.pcconnection.com) and through catalogs and the company's telesales division.
