Genmar Internet sale cleared a lot of inventory

Article Abstract:

In August of 2001, a month when boat sales are typically slow, Genmar promoted a Worldwide Internet Boat Clearance sale that 1,200 of its dealers participated in. The sale was advertised on television and in USA Today, the Wall St. Journal and on AOL. Lots of older and larger inventory was moved off showroom floors to make room for new inventory. About 50,000 visitors went to boatcash.com, a marketing move that proved successful during an economic slump.
