Great Universal Stores struggles as it restructures business

Article Abstract:

Great Universal Stores PLC (GUS) posted profits of $685 million in FY 2000 ended Mar 31, compared with $760 million in the previous fiscal year. The decline in profits is largely due to a significant drop in home shopping sales. Other factors are the major restructuring of GUS' Argos and Home Shopping retail and catalog businesses and the poor performance of Experian in the US.
