His dealer network: Sears, Kmart, et al

Article Abstract:

Unified Marine is a national distributor of boating supplies to mass merchandisers Kmart, Lowe's and Sears, Roebuck and Co. The company was established in 1984 by David Nirenberg, who at time was disenchanted with his career at another marine distributor. Nirenberg says that by providing turn-key shelf management and a never-say-no business attitude he was able to meet the demands of mass merchandisers. This philosophy allowed Unified to garner the Kmart account by 1987 and enabled it to manufacture and package its own Seasense brand, which accounts for 65 to 70% of its product line.

Marina owners try to meet growing demand for space

Article Abstract:

Marina owners in South Florida are looking to expand their facilities to meet their customers' growing demand for space and to create storage space for high-performance powerboats. The Marine Industries Assn of South Florida is not optimistic that boatyards and marinas can keep up with growing demand for slip space and repair facilities. The problem is particularly acute for big boats.
