Incentives, special offers, promotions - or bribes

Article Abstract:

Builders merchants should persuade materials buyers to place orders by reducing prices, rather than tempting them with dubious, personal incentives, such as free holiday vouchers, sometimes sponsored by the manufacturers. Such merchants usually cover themselves by disclaimers in the offer term's small print, absolving them of responsibility for telling the Inland Revenue, and by implication, gaining the approval of the purchasing company.
