DM Gains Prominence at Interpublic

New York, NY-based Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., which has acquired Chicago, Ill.-based True North Communications Inc., has announced plans for a major reorganization of its operations. The reorganization, which includes plans for a new focus on direct marketing, will reduce the ad firm's 20 global operating units to only four.

Grey's shareholders OK agency sale to WPP

Gray Global Group's shareholders have signed a deal to sell the advertising agency to the British marketing company WPP Group PLC for $1.7 billion. Grey's chairman/CEO Edward H. Meyer, who will receive $500 million from the total cash payout, will continue to head the organization and run it as an independent unit of WPP.
