Satisfaction Quotient (SQ) includes all the buyer's positive feelings and impressions about a builder's presentations of his housing product. This entails effective marketing strategies and builder quality, value and reputation. Good merchandising of the architectural and interior elements will reflect buyers' choices and ensure positive client feedback. Fieldstone Communities Inc's Fieldstone Terraces project, whose philosophy, marketing, design and merchandising focused on family interactions, illustrates the successful application of the SQ principle.

Zipper lots up density, yield deep backyards

Housing developer Forecast Homes offers innovative zipper lots with high-density designs in its New Dimensions housing community development in Sacramento, CA. This means an increased density in single-family housing but still with attractive backyards. The housing community offers 141 detached houses in 14 acres. Forecast Homes of Northern California Pres Larry Young says that higher density designs lessen the problems of land-use planners because the smallness of the lot become less obvious.
