Why architects need boots

Article Abstract:

UK construction industry legislation concludes an information release schedule (IRS) would benefit architects if included in contracts. An IRS providing both contractor, architect and administrators with realistic deadlines which all parties are agreed upon. The IRS has been developed by the Joint Contract Tribunal, which believes such legislation will make building projects more efficient and easier to work on.

The Scheme for Construction Contracts has been used as an arbitration tool in disputes since May 1998. However, a recent case reveals that the scheme is unclear about what to do about the parties' costs. Details of the case are provided.
