Magellan's readies push for summer

Article Abstract:

Magellan's plans to drop 300,000 summer catalogs on May 7, 2001, in the second of seven mailings that the travel supplies/apparel retailer will send every two weeks in spring and summer 2001. The 68-page, full-color catalog will be sent to a total of 2.2 million households by Aug 2001, when the retailer will begin mailing its fall book. The company's target demographies range from 35 to 75 years old and consisting of upper-income international travelers and is slightly skewed toward women.

Princess tries to lure return cruisers

Princess Cruises has launched direct mail full-color foldout brochures to 300,000 previous customers and 50,000 travel agent partners in the US and Canada. The mailing is sent with TV spots and travel magazine ads heralding the company's new slogan, 'Princess ... where i belong.' The direct mail, TV and print campaigns mark Princess Cruises' first major marketing effort since ending its relationship with former parent company Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.

Kmart, WWF tag-team for online promotions

Article Abstract:

World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc and Kmart Corp launched a co- braned sweepstakes campaign. Kmart's BlueLight.com and WWF.com are carrying links to opt in to the sweepstakes until Mar16, 2001. The contest features a grand prize of tickets to the WWF event Wrestlemania X-Seven at the Houston Astrodome on Apr 1, 2001. The prize includes airplane tickets and hotel accommodations as well as the chance to have lunch with WWF wrestler Kurt Angle.
