Mailers feel Floyd's wrath, report delays in fall deliveries

Article Abstract:

Direct marketing companies will not be able to meet their home-delivery dates for fall 1999. This is because the US Postal Service decided to shut down mail-processing and distribution facilities in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida and other areas as Hurricane Floyd battered the East Coast. The shortage of trucks as well as the increased volume in postal service brought about by the closings are hampering the operations of most offices which have reopened.
