Net firm uses just the facts to hold Web portals' traffic

Article Abstract:

Fact City Inc announced that it has concluded deals with TV Guide, Billboard, Internet Movie Database and music database Muze. Fact City offers an online question-and-answer service and bills itself as an alternative to search engines. It sells its services to Web sites in exchange for a percentage of the advertising revenue on pages bearing the answers. Fact City is also expected to announce that Fox Sports would add the question-answer format on the Major League Baseball section of its Web site.

MapInfo to market partner Polk's demographic, segmentation data

Article Abstract:

MapInfo Corp. of Troy, NY, a desktop mapping software company, has entered into an agreement with its new partner The Polk Co. of Southfield, MI, to sell Polk's demographic and segmentation data of 111million US households. MapInfo will likewise add the cluster analysis to its TargetPro market analysis software, to be available beginning Nov. 1, 1998, that is intended for retailers and direct marketers. The cluster analysis system enables businesses to identify new customers by comparing the demographic profile of their existing customers to the profile of a mailing list or geographic area.

NetCreations Inc of New York, NY, and Palo Alto, CA-based MySoftware Co entered into a partnership to establish My eProspects.com, which will enable small businesses secure lists of potential clients online. The new service would allow firms to perform such capabilities as accessing www.myeprospects.com, writing a marketing message, selecting a category of potential clients.
