Mapping the strategy

The Board of Directors of the Manufactured Housing Institute has formulated a set of goals for the manufactured housing industry. These goals include the establishment of a respected and effective government relations program, the expansion of the manufactured housing market, and the implementation of research programs on installation standards, product designs and financial services. No preemption of local sprinkler rules, HUD says

Article Abstract:

The Dept. of Housing and Urban Development has reaffirmed its view that local ordinances requiring the installation of fire sprinklers are not preempted by the National Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards Act. The department stated that preemption takes place only when there is an applicable, non-identical federal standard. The Manufactured Housing Institute has expressed disappointment with the department's decision and it is now exploring possible avenues for legal relief.

What now? A four-day work week?

Article Abstract:

Retailers will generate more sales if they would reduce the work week into four days instead of five. The shift to this radical concept among retailers is triggered by the realization that some of their sales staff are satisfied with what they make even if they do not bring in more customers. Scheduling them to work in the sales center four days a week and setting aside one day for prospecting provides more flexibility and variety to the work week.
