Michigan puts more restrictions on PWC

Article Abstract:

Michigan lawmakers passed in early summer 1998 a comprehensive, five-year bill, called the Personal Watercraft Act, which will increase the minimum age of personal watercraft (PWC) operators to 14 years old from 12 years old. In addition, the law, which will be effected starting Apr. 1, 1998, will also forbid operation of PWC from an hour prior to sunset to 8 a.m. The regulation, which will expire after half a decade unless it is extended by lawmakers, broadens PWC no-wake zones on the Great Lakes to 200 ft from 100 ft from shore.
