NTSB wants PWC design changes, mandatory training for operators

Article Abstract:

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) wants design changes on personal watercraft (PWC) and mandatory training for operators. The recommendations come up after the NTSB found out that there is a steady increase in the annual PWC fatality rate in recent years, despite an overall drop in the number of boating fatalities. According to a study by the federal safety board, inexperienced PWC operators are more likely to be injured than experienced operators. PWC, with speeds of over 60 mph and carries selling price of around $5,000, became the hottest product in the marine industry.
