New liquor law may benefit marketers

Article Abstract:

Wine marketers could benefit from the 21st Amendment Enforcement Act that took effect on Jan 26, 2001, said Wine Institute Pres and CEO John De Luca. According to De Luca, the law could prove beneficial by permitting direct marketers to argue their case in federal court. The new legislation allows attorneys general of all 50 US states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Guam to seek civil penalties in federal court against out-of-state liquor firms and wineries that violate state liquor laws.
