A Postal Operations Survey conducted by the American Bankers Assn has revealed that banks have reduced the volume of mail they have distributed since 1996. The report stated that banks mailed 7.92 billion pieces in 1999 which is lower by 17.7% from the 9.6 billion pieces they mailed in 1996. The decline has been attributed to a combination of factors including cost-reduction measures such as combined statements.
