One to watch

Article Abstract:

Multi media, the combined use of computer design data and graphics, film, TV and laser disc to generate a realistic moving picture, are the best sales tools available for the construction industry. Practical, inexpensive multimedia is limited to videos. Interactive multimedia allows the client to 'ask questions' to the system. Multimedia equipment can be purchased for a few thousand pounds sterling. Extras are computer expansion boards to digitise video images and computer animation software. Time is the main investment but it is believed that the Intel 586 chip will speed up operations by 400%.

Intrapet

Article Abstract:

Intranets have great potential for businesses but they require changes in business culture to achieve this potential. Intranets are closed company computer networks. One major benefit is that companies can distribute their company manuals on the intranet. This saves printing costs and permits immediate access to updated information. An intranet also promotes an efficient flow of information around widely-separated sites. However, managers are often reluctant to invest in intranets due to their lack of understanding.
