Outdoor Life, Away.com launch adventure contest

Article Abstract:

Outdoor Life of Stamford, CT, in collaboration with Away.com, has launched a tune-in sweepstakes called Ticket to Adventure. The contest offers winning participants trips to exotic destinations across the globe that include trips to Italy, Himalayas and an FIS World Cup Skiing and Snowboarding venue. To join the sweepstakes, individuals may send in postcard entries or register at Away.com's website. Winners will be announced on the airing of three athletic events that include 2000 Giro d'Italia bike stage race, 2000 raid Gauloises adventure race and FIS World Cup Skiing.

Privacy groups seek probe of e-marketers' practices

Article Abstract:

Privacy advocacy groups Junkbusters and the Electronic Privacy Information Center is asking the FTC to investigate the online marketing practices of Ask Jeevers, eTour.com and Amazon.com. Junkbusters wants the FTC to audit Amazon's privacty practices after the agency refused to act on a finding that Amazon may have made deceptive statements. On the other hand, the Electronic Privacy Information Center wants the sale of eTour customer data to Ask Jeeves be stopped.

FTC files TSR charges against travel company

Article Abstract:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a complaint against Travel Express International, a travel company based in Norcross, GA, for allegedly violating the Telemarketing sales Rule in a campaign to market vacation packages. According to the FTC, the company has used deceptive practices to market travel packages since 1998 through telemarketing and unsolicited faxes.
