It is a strategic move towards making Atlas Capco a leading supplier to the world's largest construction and mining market as the acquisition will give will give Atlas Capco the products to expand in a complementary open pit mining market.

The 'Big-Pipe' is the third phase in the agreement between the city of Portland and the Oregon department of Environmental Quality to stop almost all the city's overflows for a 94% reduction into the Willamette river and 99% in the Columbia slough by the year 2011. A detailed project description and the construction plan of the project are discussed.
