Cutter & Buck sweeps grows database

Cutter and Buck Inc has launched a national sweepstakes campaign not only to draw customers to stores that carry its products, but also to build its customer database. The database will be very useful to the sportswear firm since it plans to open more stores and integrate more postal direct mail and e-mail efforts into its marketing mix. The campaign, which is being promoted in two leading golf magazines, gives consumers a chance to win a trip for two to Pebble Beach, CA, to watch the 100th anniversary of the US Open Golf Championships.

RightStart rolls out mail program to promote site, sweeps

Mail-order firm RightStart has started the first phase of its 4-million- piece direct mail campaign for its educational and safety products geared for infants. Its 'Click for College Cash' promotion includes tie-ups with Oxygen.com and other direct marketing efforts. Consumers will also have the chance to win a $15,000 scholarship once they register at RightStart's Web site. It will also mail a 16-page catalog that includes a discount coupon on an Internet purchase.

Interactive voice-response service firm Official Payments Corp has launched the national print segment of a $5 million direct response ad campaign which urges consumers to pay their 1999 federal income taxes with a credit card. The print ads portray the advantages of paying taxes with a credit card, such as accumulating frequent-flier miles or participation in other loyalty programs offered by other credit card firms.
