Roof with a view

Article Abstract:

A disused Victorian warehouse has been converted into one of the most stylish new addresses in London. The former warehouse is located on the South Bank of the river Thames, with far reaching views over the south side of London. The 450,000 pounds sterling Manhattan-style loft apartments were commissioned by the Manhattan Loft Company, which specializes in loft conversions. The architect-designed lofts are minimal, yet roomy, incorporating original brickwork and contemporary design.

Little do they know

Article Abstract:

Many people outside the construction industry are suspicious of building contractors, believing that such firms earn excessive sums of money for undertaking work which really needs no specialised skills at all. In many cases, people feel that they can coordinate a building project alone, and that they do not need the help of a building contractor. They fail to realise that this is actually a very skilled job, especially the task of coordinating all the various trades.

Holy appropriate

Article Abstract:

A new church hall in Stoke Newington, London, England, has been designed in a neo-gothic style which mimics the original building. The hall, built for under one million pounds sterling and adjacent to a huge neo-gothic church, has a steel framework with a zinc roof, iroko facings and blockwork partitions. Natural light is provided through low-level windows and clerestory glazing.
