SPF insulates owners from high energy bills

Article Abstract:

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is an economical waterproofing and insulation material whose properties are becoming well-known with roofing contractors. SPF reflects solar radiation, releases heat easily and can reduce roof temperatures by 100F, thereby reducing the heat which enters into a building's interior. SPF roofs have lesser heat conductance because they have no seams, gaps or fasteners. They have no thermal shorts that release energy and the foam insulates from the inside, increasing its efficiency in energy savings.

SPI/SPFD: educating the industry on SPF

Article Abstract:

The greater acceptance of sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) and the boosted number of specifications that need some type of contractor and/or supplier accreditation were the reasons that made the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc, Spray Polyurethane Foam Division's (SPI/SPFD's) accreditation programs very popular over the past few years. The programs cover foam and coating s suppliers, distributors, independent inspectors, individual applicators and contractor firms.

NRF Phase II study is key for SPF

Article Abstract:

A second, Phase II study regarding the performance of sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) is being considered by the National Roofing Foundation (NRF). NRF's Phase II study will focus mainly on flashing details and edge conditions for SPF roofs, particularly the usage of metal flashings against self-flashing with SPF. However, the project will only commence upon receipt of contributions totaling 50% of $180,000-$200,000, the total forecast cost of the study.
