The effect of financial services privacy legislation should be assessed more carefully before any new laws could be considered. Senator Tom Carper, who serves on Senate committees overseeing financial services, spoke at the Direct Marketing Assn and Internet Alliance's 2001 Government Affairs Conference. Carper has requested hearings to determine how well the Gramm-Leach-Bliley legislation is working.
