DMA urges lobbying for I-tax ban

Article Abstract:

The Direct Marketing Assn is requesting its members to solicit Congressional approval of the portions of the Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce's Internet tax report that are favorable to direct marketing (DM) firms. Among the measures favorable to DM firms are the extension of the moratorium on taxes targeted at the Internet, the prohibition of sales taxes on digital goods and services and the abolition of the 3% federal excise tax on telecommunications.

First USA leads mail pack again

First USA Bank of Wilmington, DE, became the leading mailer in the US again to maintain its record as one of the highest-ranked after taking the top spot for two years, according to mail tracking firm American MailBox Monitor of Santa Rosa, CA. American Express Co. of New York is the second-leading mailer in the US followed by MBNA Bank of Wilmington, DE, and Citicorp of New York. American MailBox Monitor spokeswoman Sallie May noted that the bigger banks which generally dominate the mailer market send out more mail than the smaller-sized firms or banks.
