Veritas promises data protection

Article Abstract:

Veritas Software Corp has launched a direct mail campaign in support of its new automated data protection software, called NetBackup Professional, which it introduced in Jun 2000. The campaign is part of an integrated marketing effort including Web and print advertising which is still in the planning stage. Half of the 37,500 pieces of mail sent in Jul 2000, were personalized self-mailers sent to system administrators of companies while the other half were shipped inside a personalized envelope containing a personalized cover letter along with the informational piece.

Mercari molds mailing around Play-Doh

Article Abstract:

Mercari Technologies has incorporated a can of Play-Doh in its first strategic direct-mail campaign. The campaign touts Mercari's merchandising software as helping merchandisers develop an 'intelligent shelf' with their stores. Besides the Play-Dohm, the direct-mail pieces include a white box with a personalized sticker made to look like a gift and an informational card about Mercari. The mailings were sent to 1,500 CEOs and VP for merchandising at mid-sized and large retail chains.

$110M IBM effort goes out of this world

Article Abstract:

IBM Software Group has launched a $110 million global marketing campaign for its middleware products, which include DB2, Lotus, Tivoli and WebSphere. The campaign features two characters called 'codernauts' that landed on Earth from a parallel universe where software is closed, proprietary and difficult to use. IBM will also roll out a direct-mail campaign that will start by May or Jun 2001, sending the mailings throughout the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
