Cigarette chooses buyer over completing merger

Aventura, FL-based custom boat manufacturer Cigarette Racing Team Inc has decided to bowed out of a merger agreement with publicly-traded company, Alchemy Holdings Inc, and its subsidiary, Hawk Marine Power Inc. The boatbuilder has, instead, agreed to be acquired by financial consortium LBG Acquisitions. Cigarette Racing Team favored the acquisition because it will remain a private company under the financial consortium.

BTI spits out 'pill,' OKs merger for 50 cents more

Article Abstract:

Brunswick Technologies Inc (BTI) has entered into a definitive merger agreement with CertainTeed Corp. CertainTeed has completed the tender of about 3.5 million shares of BTI common stock at $8.50 per share. The shares represent around 80% of BTI's outstanding shares. Both parties have agreed to dismiss any pending litigation that have arisen out of the hostile takeover bid from CertainTeed Corp.

Investment firm purchases Ted Hood Cos

Article Abstract:

Ted Hood Cos of Rhode Island has been acquired by investment firm Bain, Willard Cos LP for an undisclosed amount. The boatbuilding firm will continue to have founder Ted Hood as consultant for design and research and development. The purchase of Ted Hood Cos will complement the investment firm's acquisition of Hinckley Co, another boatbuilding firm acquired in November 1997.
