ShopNow.com leverages privacy issue into business model

ShopNow.com Inc, a Seattle, WA-based business-to-business and consumer online services company, has entered a strategic alliance with marketing services firm PrivaSeek Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, the firms will join forces in launching Privaseek's Persona service. The service, which offers clients control over personal information, will be made available to ShopNow's 6 million monthly visitors and 40,000 company clients.

Bose moves DM base inhouse

Article Abstract:

Bose Corp of Framingham, MA, has terminated its contract with Wickersham Hunt Schwanter over the direct marketing of the former's Acoustic Wave Music system. Bose has decided that the direct marketing efforts for the product will be done inhouse. Spokeswoman Cheryl Ferreira said the move is part of Bose's plan of monitoring direct marketing programs under the jurisdiction of its corporate communications department. She added that Bose wants more synergy between its branding and direct marketing efforts.

Lincoln rides with Barnes & Noble

Young & Rubicam (Y&R) Advertising has reported that its Mercury Sable Independent Thinkers campaign is producing good booking results. The campaign is in partnership with Barnes & Noble's bn.com online division. Y&R said that potential Mercury Sable buyers identify strongly with the Barnes & Noble brand. A Mercury brand manager said the campaign was developed because their research indicated that Sable buyers are enthusiastic readers.
