Sitel pulls out of Japan

Article Abstract:

SITEL Corp, a global call center based in Omaha, NE, has sold Sitel Japan to Bellsystem 24, one of Japan's largest call centers, in May 2000. Bellsystem will start operating Sitel Japan during the 2nd qtr. The transaction will result in a one time after tax charge of about $2 million for SITEL Corp. Under the agreement, Bellsystem will provide eCRM solutions and other support services to Sitel's Japanese clients and US firms intending to enter the Japanese market, while SITEL will provide the same to Bellsystem's US clients.

Sitel in Indian joint venture

Article Abstract:

Sitel has entered into a joint venture agreement with Tata International to open Web-enabled contact service from India to the English-speaking world. The first contact center will be located in New Mumbai, India, and should be operational before yearend 2000. The center will initially provide customer care and Internet-based chat solutions. Telephone-based communications will be added during the 1st qtr 2001.

Sitel in Asian expansion; British BTB cataloger in Japan

Article Abstract:

Sitel has formally launched Sitel Japan as part of the call center giant's expansion plans for Asia. The company hopes to boost its Asian revenues from 5% of overall sales to 10% within three years. Sitel Asia, a joint venture with Australian asset and finance management company Lend Lease, operates two call centers in Australia and is developing a joint venture with New Zealand Telecom.
