St. Thomas marina changes ownership

Article Abstract:

An unidentified Texas investment group has acquired the American Yacht Harbor and its retail and office complex in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. On behalf of the investment group, the East End marina will be managed by Marina Management Services Inc of Boca Raton, FL. Part of the short-term plan of Marina Management is to boost marketing efforts to attract more sportfishing operators, elite anglers and recreational boat anglers to the Virgin Islands.

Marine Travelift is building a giant

Article Abstract:

Marine Travelift Inc of Sturgeon Bay, WI, is developing what it claims to be the largest mobile boat hoist ever built. The Model 800 CMO giant hoist can lift 800 metric tons, costs $4 million to construct and is being built for the Ang Sin Liu Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore. It is powered by a 500- hp diesel engine and uses nylon slings to carry boats of up to 300 ft long, 67 ft wide and 1.77 million lbs in weight.
