StationBreak debuts targeted set-tops

Article Abstract:

StationBreak.com has introduced a free set-top box in Feb 2000. The set- top box consists of a power cord, a phone jack and a port for receiving television signals. It allows consumers to respond directly to commercials through their television remote controls. Television direct response marketers can benefit from the device by being able to target their ads and establish a direct link with customers before and after they have purchased the product.

TiVo study traces fast-forwarding

Article Abstract:

Set-top box manufacturer TiVo Inc has released the results of a survey on the use of the appliance which enables people to save, pause, rewind and fast-forward television programs. It was found that channel-surfing has declined by 31% while fast-forwarding is used on most commercials. It also found that 72% were satisfied with the service which made their viewing more enjoyable. The service was also used by 70% to record a program at least once daily.

Software puts a face on service reps

Article Abstract:

HelloNetwork Inc has introduced HelloOperator, a Webcasting application that enables customers to hear, see and talk with customer service representatives. It is being sold to e-commerce sites with the aim of improving customer services. The system, which is sold for $750 per package, enables operators to communicate simultaneously with five customers. HelloNetwork vp Amy Ellins said their product provides a personal touch to buying and can increase a company's customer database.
