FTC: Garey suit sets no precedent

Article Abstract:

The US Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against infomercial show producer Garvey Management Group Inc and the infomercial's host and company owner Steve Garvey. The agency has also filed charges against the company's principals, Mark Levin and David Richmond and its producers, Modern Interactive Inc. The charges include an allegation that Modern Interactive and Garvey Management Group Inc received a cut of the sales. The decision to take the case to the federal court rather than taking him through the FTC indicates that prosecutors are taking the cases more seriously.
