Swedish dot-com declares bankruptcy

Article Abstract:

Dressmart, an online clothing retailer in Sweden, went bankrupt in Aug 2000 when four investors disapproved bailout terms offered by New Wave Group (NWG), a Swedish apparel merchant. Except for the four investors, all other investors accepted the proposal by NWG to pay about 200 Dressmart creditors 25% of their investment, which is about $3.5 million. Dressmart has expanded into seven European markets since it was launched in Apr 1999.

iToke plans e-commerce site delivering marijuana in Amsterdam

Article Abstract:

The plan by iToke, a 30-min marijuana delivery service established by two Americans in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in Aug 2000, to launch its Web site is being threatened by legal difficulties. The iToke Web site had already been up since Mar 2000 and provides information on how to order and pay for the marijuana. The two Americans are also planning to take their business public through an initial public offering by the end of the year.

EC raids German book industry over price fixing

Article Abstract:

Investigators from the European Commission (EC) raided the offices of Berterlsmann AG in Jul 2000 to look into charges of price fixing by the German online bookseller. The probe is the second time within a month that EC investigators have looked into the German online book industry, which has been accused of pressuring an Austrian online bookseller to stop discounting books.
