Article Abstract:

Rossway Dowd Contracts Director Brendan Dowd points out the need for roofing designers and roofing installers to work more closely together to improve the safety record in the British roofing industry. He agrees the issue of safety is becoming more important to architects, buyers and construction managers. Although he suggest manufacturers do not always consider the safety element when making new roofing products. Dowd points out some 37 roofers died whilst at work, during 1993-1996, yet using alternative materials could have saved at least four lives.
