UK faces defeat on working week limit

Article Abstract:

European legislation to introduce a maximum working week of 48 hours is opposed by the UK government. However, the Organisation of Working Time Directive is likley to be introduced in the rest of the European Community. A draft directive has been issued by the European Commission that will regulate the working hours of people aged between 15 and 18. New regulations in the UK mean all planning applications must be publicised in order to allow all interested parties to comment.
