Universal Music offers pay-per-song software

Article Abstract:

Universal Music Group (UMG) signed multiple agreements with music electronic retailers, which will result in at least 60 songs from UMG's catalog being offered at 15 Web sites. The deals were made possible after UMG and several software developers created an Internet software called Bluematter that would allow the music downloads. Bluematter allows users to send song samples to friends, who may be willing to buy the whole CD.
